In many countries, people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many countries residents do not recyle their garbage according to their capability. This may happen due to several reasons such as unwillingness and insufficent law to regulate the recylcing. The attitudes can be changed by proper awareness campaings and a strict law to monitor the recycling procedures.

Most people think recycling is not that much mandatory whrere some claim it is a government duty. They just put their rubbish into the bins. Consequently, countries face a tremendous impact of environmental pollution. In additon, some countries do not have enough programme to motivate the general people for recycling. Also, many countries do not have strong regulations toward it.

Awareness campaign will provide a positive view towards the people. By doing this people will get a practical drill about how to recycle their household rubbish and which materials can be reused. People will be able to understand that to keep their country clean handling their own wastes properly play a crucial role. So, the regulatory should arrange a campaign at least once in a month. For instance, developed countries who are focusing on sustainability arrange promotional campaign each weeks which influence its citizen to keep their land clean without producing soo wastes.

Nevertheless, some strict rules or allocating taxes on extra garbage production can be assigned to minimize the tendancy. It helps to control the extra waste generation. In that case, if a household produce more than a fixed amount of rubbish in a month, they will have to pay a penalty for this. Many counties get benefited via this kind of law.

To summarize, due to lack of awareness many people do not intend to recycle their waste. By proper campaigning and introducing a strict law it can be plummeted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you identify limited motivation, weak regulation and insufficient public education as reasons, then propose awareness campaigns and penalties. Your position is clear, and the household-based example of charging for waste above a set amount helps make one solution concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that people consider recycling a government duty could be linked more explicitly to why this leads them not to recycle. The reference to developed countries’ campaigns is also broad and would be stronger with a specific example or clearer explanation of their effect. The response therefore covers the task well overall, but the development and support are uneven.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, two paragraphs on solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the line of argument easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Consequently,” “In addition,” and “Nevertheless” help signal relationships between ideas. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The transition from the causes paragraph to the campaign proposal is abrupt, while “By doing this” has an unclear reference. The final sentence also compresses the proposed actions into a general summary rather than clearly restating their effects. To strengthen progression, make each paragraph’s central point explicit and use referencing that clearly identifies the idea being discussed, rather than relying on a sequence of connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “environmental pollution,” “household rubbish,” “sustainability,” and “penalty,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “recyle,” “insufficent,” and “tendancy” are misspelled, while “plummeted” does not fit the intended meaning of reducing the problem. Several collocations are also unnatural, such as “positive view towards the people” and “extra garbage production.” These issues keep the vocabulary from being consistently precise, even though the main ideas remain understandable. Focus on accurate spelling and natural combinations such as “raise public awareness,” “impose a penalty,” and “reduce waste generation.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures and conditional forms, as in “if a household produce more than a fixed amount… they will have to pay.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. In that conditional, the singular subject requires “produces”; similarly, “handling their own wastes properly play” needs a singular verb if the subject is the gerund phrase. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, for example “Awareness campaign” needs an article or plural form, and “once in a month. For instance” needs a space and clearer punctuation. More consistent control of agreement, articles and punctuation, alongside accurate complex sentences, would improve clarity.
