Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's world, many people do not take part in the recycling process of rubbish as they could. Most people ignore the process of recycling the waste material and do not take part in these type of activities. There could be some common reasons that avoid people to recycle the waste material and various measures can be implement in society to solve this problem.

The major reason behind this people do not have much knowledge about the importance of recycling. Many individuals are not educated and they have lack of education. Moreover, people considered it as an extra effort and time consuming process because there are several steps in this process. Furthermore, government do not aware about the importance of recycling. There are not even proper rules and precautions in society for the recycling process.

Although the problem is large, but several measures can be helpful to solve this problem. For this purpose, the local communities should be fully acknowledged about the importance of this process. Awareness in public will have huge positive impact on society as more and more people will take part in this process.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify two relevant reasons—limited knowledge and the perception that recycling takes extra time—and propose public awareness as a response. However, the task is only partially addressed: the reasons are asserted rather than explained with examples, and the solution is not developed beyond informing communities. The statement that “government do not aware” introduces another possible cause but is unclear and is not connected to a specific remedy. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, leaving little space to explain how awareness campaigns or practical measures could change behaviour. To strengthen the answer, explain each cause and give concrete actions, such as convenient collection points, clear sorting instructions, or incentives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, and a paragraph proposing a solution. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “For this purpose” help signal relationships between points. However, progression is limited because the ideas are mostly listed rather than developed, and the final paragraph ends without a concluding summary. Some connections are unclear: “Although the problem is large, but” uses two contrasting signals together, while the government point is not clearly linked to the preceding explanation. Organise the causes and solutions into clearly developed points, and use each paragraph to explain how its ideas relate. A brief conclusion would also make the response feel more complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “waste material,” “importance,” and “awareness,” so the main subject is clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive, especially repeated references to “the process” and “people.” Some word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “take part in the recycling process of rubbish,” “reasons that avoid people,” and “fully acknowledged about.” These choices sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Aim for more precise topic language and natural collocations, such as “sort household waste,” “discourage people from recycling,” and “raise public awareness.” Vary repeated terms with suitable alternatives, while checking that each phrase fits its context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a sentence beginning “Although the problem is large,” and use connectors to join ideas. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “these type of activities” (number agreement), “government do not aware” (verb construction), and “measures can be implement” (passive verb form). The sentence “The major reason behind this people do not have much knowledge” is also missing a grammatical link between its parts. In addition, “Although … but” creates an incorrect contrast structure. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, passive forms, and clauses with “because” or “that.” Building shorter, correct sentences first will help you express the ideas more clearly.
