Student answer (Band 6.0)

In several countries, individuals donot dwell too much on recycling waste materials even when they are ways to. There are certain consequences to this behaviour and human race is going to face it in a long run.

One of the main reasons is that people donot understand the necessity to recycle and reuse things. Lack of awareness is going to cost in the future. On elaborating, oneself become aware of the end results that they have to overcome, if we continue to consume more and recycle less. Another possible reason is that people invest less time to think and act to save earth from rubbish being piled up. Moreover, citizens are being more of consumers and less responsible for mangement their own waste. Lack of government provided facilities might also be an add on to this situation.

Solutions to this include government of countries taking part in creating awareness of the risk that decreased waste management is posing and also information on how to deal with it practically. Citizens should be trained on disposing and recycling waste in a safe and responsible manner. Startups regarding the situation of recycling waste should be encouraged and invested in by the government. Individuals craetions and innovations should also be entertained in order to deal with recycling of garbage. New water plants to be installed to recycle and purify waste water. Food wastes should be preserved to be used as fertilisers to plants and crops after proper fermentation. To exemplify, pineapple peels could be fermented to produce probiotic drinks that help ease gastric issues to a certain point.

In conclusion, I believe that it is responsibility of individuals to manage and recycle their rubbish, which could be executed by consuming less, reusing things to its maximum yield and also recycling things responsibly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both questions: it identifies limited awareness, low motivation, consumer habits and inadequate government facilities as reasons, then proposes public education, training, investment in recycling initiatives and reuse of food and water waste. The conclusion also gives a clear view that individuals share responsibility. These are relevant ideas, but some are not fully explained. For example, the point about people investing too little time is asserted without showing why this happens or how it contributes to low recycling. The suggestions about startups, individual innovations and water plants are listed rather than linked clearly to the causes. The pineapple-peel example is specific, but its connection to household recycling could be made clearer. Develop fewer points with fuller explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and signposts such as “One of the main reasons,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help organise the discussion. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes list-like, particularly in the solutions paragraph, where several proposals follow one another without clear grouping or explanation of their relationships. Some references are also unclear: “this behaviour” and “the situation” do not always point to a precise idea. Group related solutions together and use linking sentences to show how each addresses a stated cause. This would make cohesion less mechanical and the argument more connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “waste management,” “recycling,” “fermentation,” “fertilisers” and “purify,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “maximum yield” and “probiotic drinks.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “donot dwell too much on recycling,” “an add on to this situation,” “individuals craetions,” and “entertained” for innovations. Spelling errors such as “mangement” and “craetions” also reduce control. Aim for precise, natural combinations—for example, “pay little attention to recycling” and “government support for recycling initiatives”—and check spelling carefully. The intended meaning is generally recoverable, but these slips limit precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if we continue to consume more and recycle less” and a relative clause in “the risk that decreased waste management is posing.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “human race is going to face it in a long run,” where articles and phrasing are not controlled, and “citizens are being more of consumers,” which uses an unsuitable verb construction. “Individuals to manage and recycle their rubbish” also needs a possessive or article structure, while “reusing things to its maximum yield” has a number-agreement problem. Review articles, verb patterns and agreement, and revise sentences to ensure each clause has a clear, accurate structure.
