Student answer (Band 5.5)

Decrease in recycling waste material is the rising concern of government and people who are fighting for saving our planet Earth. With the increase in population and industrialisation Earth is facing several threats to its natural resources and it's climate overall. This is because of the increase in the elimination of waste products then that of which can be managed easily without harming our environment. For protection there are several measures which could be among them following the system of 4Rs could be very much effective for reducing land pollution. 4Rs mean reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. The term recycling means processing to make something from one thing. From my perspective the biggest reason that why many people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could it comes down to a certain reason that most people the not have that much awareness about the impacts of recycling on environment, they also don't know several methods to recycle one thing and the recycling process that are occurring in the factories are not that much visible to the people so they are not able to see how much helpful recycling can be. First thing government can do to increase recycling is to start recycling campaigns aross the country .From a recent survey about recycling it is concluded that places where targeted campaigns about recycling were held has shown an increase in the recycling. Secondly recycling should be introduced in schools and their should be separate workshops for recycling where people can learn the benefits of recycling for our planet. Recycling should be presented in a fun way to attract people which in return will increase recycling. Also there should be machines and bins installed where people can throw the products to be recycled.

Recycling is something really important for protection of our beloved home land and government should take several measures to promote it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify limited public awareness as a reason for low recycling and suggest campaigns, school workshops, and accessible bins or machines. These are relevant ideas, and the reference to a survey gives an attempt at support. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you mention that people do not see factory recycling processes, but do not explain how this affects their behaviour or how that visibility could be improved. The proposed measures are also listed more than explained; a specific example of how a campaign or school programme changes habits would strengthen the response. Your position—that recycling matters and should be promoted—is clear, though the opening discussion of population and industrialisation is not closely connected to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from the environmental context to a reason for low recycling, then to possible solutions and a concluding statement. Linking phrases such as “First,” “Secondly,” and “Also” help signal the list of actions. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear because the opening introduces the 4Rs and pollution before the main explanation, without showing how these points connect to the question. Most of the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the reason and solutions are not visually separated. Some connections are also awkward or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “recycling.” Use distinct paragraphs for the cause and solutions, and make each transition explain the relationship between ideas rather than simply listing them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “natural resources,” “land pollution,” “recycling campaigns,” and “separate workshops,” which allows you to discuss the subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “targeted campaigns.” However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise, and some errors make the writing less natural: “Decrease in recycling waste material” and “the increase in the elimination of waste products” do not clearly express the intended ideas. Spelling and spacing issues, including “across” misspelled as “across” in the text as “across” is intended but written “across” [sic: “across” appears as “across”], and “4Rs mean reduce, reuse,” also affect presentation. Aim for precise phrases such as “low recycling rates” and “waste disposal,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in “places where targeted campaigns about recycling were held.” This shows some range, and the main message is generally understandable. However, several sentences contain errors in structure, agreement, or punctuation that make the reader work harder. For example, “the biggest reason that why … it comes down to a certain reason” combines incompatible constructions, while “their should be separate workshops” has an incorrect form. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and long sentences are joined without reliable punctuation. Practise building one clear main clause at a time, then add subordinate clauses, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
