Student answer (Band 6.0)
The growing problem nowadays is dealing with garbage as it is increasing more and more but there is no place to store it. People are not recycling their trash as much they have to. There are many reasons due to which people are not recycling there rubbish like not provided with the recycling bins, the long distance of recycling bins from their house and lack of awareness and manners.
To commence with, there are many people who don't recycle their waste only because of recycle bins are little far from their house, and they don't want to bother themselves. While the majority of people are helpless as there are no bins in their area. For instance, in many cities in Pakistan there is shortage of waste disposal bins. There is minority of people who are unaware of effects caused by not recycling of waste.
The change can be done by providing enough recycling bins and waste disposal sites in an area and installation of bins near every residential block. For example, the local council should map the the area with pollution problems and install recycling bins in that area to overcome the pollution problem. Moreover, there should be need of awareness campaign to educate the people from the possible harms that are caused by not recycling of rubbish.
To sum up, the main reasons due to which individuals don't recycle the trash, such as shortage of recycling bins, distance of waste disposal site from residential area and lack of awareness among people. It can be easily solved by addressing these mentioned issues and paved a way for more improvement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you identify reasons for low recycling, including a shortage of bins, their distance from homes, and limited awareness, then suggest installing more bins and running awareness campaigns. The Pakistan example gives one relevant illustration. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, you mention that people lack “manners” in the introduction but do not develop this, and the effects of poor recycling are not clearly connected to people’s choices. The proposed council mapping is also only briefly explained. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason with a clear explanation of how it discourages recycling, and show how each proposed measure would address that specific barrier.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to reasons, solutions, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the two parts of the task, and linking phrases such as “For instance,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” make the relationships between ideas visible. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, progression within paragraphs is occasionally abrupt: the shift from people being unwilling to use distant bins to those who have no bins is not fully connected, and “There is minority of people” introduces a point without explaining its link to the preceding examples. The conclusion also repeats the list rather than synthesising it. Use clearer references and transitions to show how each idea leads to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling bins,” “waste disposal sites,” “residential block,” and “awareness campaign,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “overcome the pollution problem.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “people,” “bins,” “waste,” and “problem,” and several collocations or word choices are inaccurate or unnatural. For example, “there is shortage” needs a more natural expression such as “there is a shortage,” while “effects caused by not recycling of waste” is awkwardly formed. “Manners” does not precisely express the intended issue. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for causes and solutions, and check that each word fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “people who don't recycle their waste” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “only because.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the response is organised into complete paragraphs. Some grammatical errors remain, however. Examples include “as much they have to” (missing “as”), “because of recycle bins are little far” (incorrect clause structure), and “there should be need of awareness campaign” (article and noun-phrase errors). The conclusion’s “and paved a way” also does not fit the sentence’s verb structure. Work on articles, verb forms, and constructing clauses after “because” and “due to.” Greater accuracy in these patterns, alongside varied sentence structures, would make the argument easier to read.
