Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, waste management has become a major global challenege. Despite growing environmental awareness, many people in various countries still fail to recycle their household rubbish as much as possible. This essay wil examine the primary reasons for that issue and suggest practical solutions to encourage better recycling habits.
There are several reason for that, why recycling remain at bottom. Initially, convenience and lack of a infrastructure play a major role. In many neighborhoods, local authorities do not provide easily recycling bins or regular collection services for separated waste. Consequently, residents find it much chelenging and they throw all their rubbish into a single bins or drain, rather than sorting paper and plastic, and glasses. Secondly, there is lack of education and awareness. Many individuals simply do not understand the long-term environment consequences of improper their waste disposal or are confused about which items can actually be recycled. Without clear guidelines, people often give up on recycling altogether.
To adress this problems, several effective measures can be taken. Governments and local councils must improve waste managements such as provide bins and improve facilities. provide color-coded recycling bins in every corner of the local comminity, residents overwhelmed to utilize it. Additionally, authorities could introduce strict rules or financial incentives, such as charing some money to houeholds based on the amount nor-recycling waste and produce while offering tax rebates or rewards for those who recycle consistently. Furthermore, public awareness campaigns through schools, television, and social media are essential. Educatiing the younger generation and the general public on how to properly sort waste will foster a long-term culture of sustainibility.
In conclusion, low recycling rates are primarly caused by inconvenient infrastructure and a lack of public awareness. By improving local recycling facilities and educating citizens about resonsibile waste habbits, communication can significantly increase their recycling efforts and protect the environment for future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the question and maintains a clear focus: it identifies inconvenient recycling services and limited public understanding as causes, then proposes better facilities, incentives and education. The conclusion also restates the main explanation and direction for change. These ideas are relevant and extended with examples such as colour-coded bins and campaigns through schools and social media. However, some support remains general: the essay does not explain in detail how incentives would change behaviour or give a specific example of an effective campaign. The proposed charge and reward system is promising, but its operation and likely impact could be clarified. More precise development of these points would make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear four-paragraph structure, with causes followed by solutions and a conclusion, and the reader can follow the overall progression. Linking expressions such as “Consequently,” “Secondly,” “Additionally” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between ideas. The opening also clearly previews the essay’s purpose. At times, however, the connections within paragraphs are less smooth: the solutions paragraph moves from facilities to incentives and then education without fully explaining how each measure follows from the causes. Some transitions feel formulaic, and the sentence beginning “provide color-coded recycling bins” is not integrated clearly with the preceding sentence. Use cohesive devices more naturally and make the relationship between each proposal and the problem explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant topic vocabulary, including “waste management,” “recycling bins,” “financial incentives,” “public awareness campaigns” and “sustainability,” showing an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision and sometimes make phrases difficult to interpret. Examples include “challeng[e],” “adress,” “houeholds,” “nor-recycling waste,” and “resonsibile waste habbits.” Some collocations are also unnatural, such as “improve waste managements” and “residents overwhelmed to utilize it.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. A wider range is useful only when the chosen words fit their grammatical and contextual setting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is an attempt to use complex structures, including cause-and-effect clauses (“Consequently, residents find it…”), conditional phrasing (“those who recycle consistently”) and a relative clause (“which items can actually be recycled”). However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “There are several reason for that, why recycling remain” has problems with number, agreement and clause structure; “provide color-coded recycling bins in every corner of the local comminity, residents overwhelmed to utilize it” is not a complete, well-formed sentence; and “communication can significantly increase their recycling efforts” does not express the intended subject clearly. Practise complete sentence patterns, subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
