Student answer (Band 6.0)
In most of the countries around the world, people do not recycle the used items as much as they should do. I think this is just due to the least awareness of how recycling could be done. Awareness campaigns would be the better solution to guide people on how useless items could be for daily use. From my personal standpoint, it is a government duty to open recycling units where people dispose of unused items and get rewarded.
To begin with, the majority of people in the third-world countries are not enough educated, thats why they normally throw some of the useful items in the trash without knowing the possible uses. Moreover, awareness campaigns could be the possible solution to teach people how they can recycle used items to make them beneficial in the long run. For example, in developed countries such as Japan and the UAE, people have to pay the penalty for throwing trash over the streets, and they also get rewarded for recycling items.
Furthermore, in underdeveloped countries there are not trash baskets in streets which allow people to use. However, the government is working in big cities, but small cities are still untouched. If the authorities open recycling units where people dispose of the unused things that are important to them. It could be the major step that the government should take for humanity's well-being.
In conclusion, awareness is an indispensable element for recycling, and it could be done by teaching people through seminars and campaigns. Additionally, the government can also play an important role by making recycling plants.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you identify limited awareness and inadequate recycling facilities as reasons, then propose campaigns, recycling units and government action. Your position is clear, especially in the opening and conclusion. The example of penalties and rewards in Japan and the UAE helps illustrate how incentives might work. However, some points are not fully explained or are unclear. For instance, the claim that people in less-developed countries are “not enough educated” is broad, and you could explain more specifically how lack of information prevents recycling. The discussion of street bins also needs a clearer link to recycling rates. Develop each cause and solution with a more precise explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help signal the progression from causes to solutions. Overall, the reader can follow your main points. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “If the authorities open recycling units” is left without a complete main clause, which interrupts the flow of the paragraph. The relationship between the lack of street bins and the proposed recycling units could also be made more explicit. Use cohesive devices to show cause and effect, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “awareness campaigns,” “recycling units,” “dispose of,” “penalty,” and “recycling plants.” These choices make your main ideas understandable and show an attempt to use topic-specific language. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the least awareness,” “useless items could be for daily use,” and “not enough educated.” “Third-world countries” is also a broad and potentially insensitive label; a more neutral phrase would be more appropriate. Aim for precise expressions such as “limited awareness,” “reuse discarded items,” and “people with limited access to education.” More accurate collocations would make your argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “where,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “there are not trash baskets in streets which allow people to use” has an awkward clause structure, while “If the authorities open recycling units…” is an incomplete conditional sentence. There are also errors in “people have to pay the penalty” and “people dispose of the unused things that are important to them,” where articles or clause structure need attention. Review sentence boundaries and make sure dependent clauses are attached to complete main clauses. Greater control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
