Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, the amount of waste that people can recycle, they tend not to recycle. I think this is because of their lack of knowledge about recycling, and there are several measures can be taken to change this situation.
On the one hand, the main reason why people do not recycle their rubbish is their limited knowledge about how to recycle their unused or thrown items. A number of people may not get proper education facilities, thus even they do not know that they could recycle their wastes. The other cause of this is that the citizens are unwilling to do any work that requires effort and time. People has now become busy with their personal and work lives. As a result, they do not think twice before throwing their unwanted items.
There are some ways to change this situation. The most obvious solution is to create awareness among people. Most people do not aware of the bad impacts that their rubbish do to the environment. So, some NGOs could arrange programs or voluntary works can be organised to make people understand the necessity of recycling process. Not only can awareness alone solve this problem but also people should be given practical knowledge. Training programmes can be organised to show them the process of recycling. By this, they may could make the best use of their waste products.
In conclusion, although less academic and practical knowledge, and lack of awareness are the causes of people not recycling their rubbish, creating awareness and proper training can solve this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question by identifying limited knowledge and reluctance to spend time as causes, then proposing awareness campaigns and practical training. Your position is clear, and the ideas are relevant. However, the explanations remain fairly general: for example, you say people may lack “proper education facilities” but do not explain how this affects recycling or give a concrete example. The proposed programmes are also not developed in detail, and the conclusion introduces “less academic and practical knowledge” without clearly distinguishing it from the earlier causes. To strengthen the response, explain one cause and one solution more fully, showing how a specific measure could change people’s behaviour.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the solutions paragraph relies heavily on repeated references to “awareness” and “training programmes.” The sentence beginning “Not only can awareness alone solve this problem” is also difficult to follow because its contrast is not expressed clearly. Use more precise links between each problem and its corresponding solution, and make references such as “By this” explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “recycle,” “environment,” “voluntary works,” and “practical knowledge.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “create awareness” and “the necessity of recycling.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or combinations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, which can make the meaning less precise. For instance, “education facilities” does not clearly express the intended idea of education or information, and “the bad impacts that their rubbish do” is an awkward construction. Repeated use of “people,” “knowledge,” and “recycle” also limits variety. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for waste management and public education, and check word forms and natural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a conditional idea (“even they do not know that they could recycle”) and an inversion structure (“Not only can awareness…”). These attempts show some range, but several sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, or sentence construction. Examples include “People has now become busy,” “Most people do not aware,” and “there are several measures can be taken.” The final sentence of the solutions paragraph, “they may could make,” also combines modal verbs incorrectly. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the main message remains understandable. Practise forming clauses with “that” or “which,” checking subject–verb agreement, and using only one modal verb in each verb phrase.
