Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is widely noticed that recycling of the waste materials and litters is not as common as it should be. There are several reasons that holding people back from taking this action, such as busy lifestyle of people and lack of basic facilities required for recycling. I believed that government should come forward to address this issue by encouraging people to recycle their rubbish with the appropriate measures.

At the recent time, the increasing quantity of waste materials is a common issue faced by all countries across the world. The increasing population results in the elevated use of various products and materials, which ultimately produce high quantity of wastes. Being a sensible citizen of a nation, it is a foremost duty of a person to keep his country neat and clean. However, busy lifestyle of people along with lack of basic facilities considerably affect waste recycling. Now a days, people are working day and night to earn basic needs of their lives especially in middle income countries. They find rare events to spend on these environment conserving activities. In addition, public access to the specialized machines is limited in these countries, which considerably reduces waste recycling process.

The government bodies and local authorities may encourage local public to engage them in such activities. Government may announce some kinds of prizes and awards on recycling a sufficient amount of waste materials. For instance, some European countries have installed machines for recycling plastic bottles in multiple shopping malls and in return people get some money from these machines. Along these prizes, the supply and availability of these waste recycling machine is a basic requirement to make this initiative effective.

In conclusion, proper management of waste is necessary with increasing population. The busy dailylife and lack of facilites are the responsible factors behind the reduced waste recycling. Government should take necessary steps for encouraging people to participate in this activity by offering them prizes and money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you identify busy lifestyles and limited recycling facilities as reasons, then suggest incentives and wider access to recycling machines. Your position—that authorities should encourage recycling—is clear, and the bottle-return example gives the proposed solution useful support. This meets the task well, but the causes and remedies are not developed equally. For example, you mention that people have little time, yet do not explain how recycling specifically adds to their daily burden or how services could reduce it. The point about population growth explains rising waste more than low recycling rates. To strengthen the response, connect each cause directly to the problem and explain how each proposed measure would address it, with a little more specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from the problem to reasons and then action is easy to follow, and signposts such as “In addition” and “For instance” help guide the reader. However, some links between ideas are mechanical or not fully clear. The discussion of population growth and rising waste, for example, is not explicitly connected to why people recycle less. The conclusion repeats the main points but adds little synthesis. Improve cohesion by making the relationship between each claim explicit and using pronouns or transitions with clear references; also ensure the example is followed by an explanation of how it supports the proposed solution.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “waste materials,” “specialized machines,” “local authorities,” and “availability.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “environment conserving activities,” although this is not a natural collocation. Some word choices and forms are inaccurate or awkward, including “litters,” “elevated use,” “high quantity of wastes,” and “the supply and availability of these waste recycling machine.” Spelling and spacing also need attention in “Now a days,” “dailylife,” and “facilites.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build accuracy by learning common topic collocations, such as “recycling facilities,” “increasing volumes of waste,” and “environmentally friendly practices,” and checking plural forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “which” and “while,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “There are several reasons that holding people back” needs a finite verb in the relative clause, while “I believed that government should” has an inconsistent tense and needs an article before “government.” In “the supply and availability … is,” the compound subject requires a plural verb. The sentence beginning “Being a sensible citizen” also has an unclear relationship between the opening phrase and the main clause. Review these patterns and proofread for agreement and articles; more consistently accurate complex sentences would make your argument clearer.
