Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, recycling became a important issue in many countries. However many people donot recycle their rubbish as much they can. This essay will discuss why they shuld do recycling and give some effective solutions

There are several reasons why people fail to recycle their waste. firstly, many individuals lack awareness of the important of recycling and its benefits for environment. They may not realise that plastic waste can take hundreds of years to decompose. Secondly, recycling facilities are not always easily available. For example: some residential areas do not have seperate dust bin for seperate rubbish. So all people throw every kind of rubbish in same dust bin because it is more convinient.

There are several measures that could be taken to address this issue. Firstly, government have to place different dust din in public place and residential areas for rubbish which can be use for recycling. This would make recycling easier and encourage more people to participate. Secondly, schools and the media should raise awarness about the harmful effects of waste on the environment. For example: educational campaigns could teach people how to seperate recyclable materials from general rubbish. Furthermore, governments could introduce fines for improper waste disposal and offer incentives to households that recycle regularly.

In conclusion, the low rate of recycling is mainly caused by a lack of awareness and inadequate facilities. However by improving recycling services, educating the public and introducing appropriate redulation, government can encourage people to recycle more an protect the environment. And i think government and residentials peopl of city both have to work on this issue so that this recycling problem will be reduce.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you identify limited awareness and inadequate recycling facilities as causes, then propose public bins, education, fines and incentives. The examples about plastic taking a long time to decompose and campaigns teaching separation help make the points relevant. Your conclusion also restates the main causes and solutions. This meets the task well, but development is uneven: the awareness point is explained briefly, while the proposed fines and incentives are introduced without explaining how they would change behaviour or giving an example. The final suggestion that residents and government should work together is also not developed. Extending these ideas with a clear explanation of their likely impact would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Furthermore” help readers track the points. This is a strong organisational foundation. However, the linking is somewhat formulaic, and some connections between ideas could be smoother. For instance, the conclusion adds a new point about residents and government working together rather than simply synthesising the earlier proposals. The example introduced with “For example” is also separated from its explanation by punctuation that interrupts the flow. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make sure each paragraph develops a connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling facilities,” “decompose,” “educational campaigns,” “incentives” and “improper waste disposal.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural, as in “seperate,” “convinient,” “awarness” and “redulation.” Some phrases are also imprecise or repetitive: “different dust bin” and “same dust bin” could be expressed more accurately as recycling or waste-sorting bins. Build a more reliable range of collocations for this topic, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise phrasing would improve clarity and help the ideas sound more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “This would make recycling easier and encourage more people to participate” and a relative clause in “households that recycle regularly.” Most of the message remains understandable, but errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction recur. Examples include “a important issue,” “government have to place,” “which can be use,” and “the low rate … is mainly caused.” The opening also shifts awkwardly between past and present in “recycling became” and “people do not recycle.” The final sentence beginning “And i think” is not well integrated into the conclusion. Review article use, subject–verb agreement and consistent tense, and edit sentence boundaries and punctuation to improve accuracy.
