Student answer (Band 6.5)
People across many countries in the world do not recycle their waste upto their potential. This is primarily due to the less convenient recycling processes and unawareness among individuals. These issues can be resolved by making the recycling easy and encouraging citizens to recylce their waste.
The condition of the recycling industry is not up to the mark in many parts across the globe. Even if a person wants to recylce the garbage, the task cannot be exercised everywhere and he would have to drive to a special place to dispose the waste. In addition, the recycling bins are costly. So, as a whole the recycling process takes time, effort and extra money. Therefore, many less developed countries like Pakistan, do not have a national policy and recycling plants. Besides this, it is true that many people are oblivious of even the term of recycling or treating the waste materials. All these reasons combined are the key limitations in recycling of rubbish.
The process of recycling can be improved by taking some significant measures. Firstly, states shall allocate rewards for people coming up with innovative recycling procedures. Secondly, the machinery used for treatment of waste material must be subsidized and bins must be place everywhere at local levels. Thirdly, for the awareness of masses, media should be used regularly to keep people updated with the benefits of recycling of waste on their own. For instance, depositing empty bottles and cans rewards instant money to the consumer in many parts of the European Union. This not only encourage the people to act responsibly but also keep the environment clean.
In conclusion, people do not recyle much because either the process is not comfortable or they do not know about it. It can be solved by encouraging people through instant rewards, state funds and spreading information utilizing state media.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the question and maintains a clear position: limited convenience and public awareness are identified as causes, while incentives, better facilities and media campaigns are proposed as solutions. The example of bottle and can deposits helps illustrate how rewards might work. Some ideas, however, are more fully explained than others. The discussion of access is supported with the example of having to travel to a disposal site, but the claim that recycling bins are costly is not clearly connected to why individuals recycle less. Likewise, the proposed state rewards for innovative procedures are less directly explained than the deposit scheme. Clarifying how each measure would address a stated cause would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a coherent overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph presenting solutions and a conclusion. The progression from barriers to possible remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with several ideas introduced through a list rather than linked through explanation. Phrases such as “All these reasons combined” and “This not only…” provide some connection, but the relationship between the lack of recycling plants and individual awareness could be made clearer. The conclusion also repeats the main points without adding much synthesis. Use more varied linking and clearer references to show how each solution responds to a specific cause.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “recycling industry,” “national policy,” “subsidized,” “innovative recycling procedures” and “instant rewards.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccurate or unnatural expressions. For example, “do not recycle their waste up to their potential” and “the task cannot be exercised everywhere” are not natural collocations in this context; “recycle as much as they could” and “recycling may not be available everywhere” would be clearer. There are also spelling errors, including “recylce” and “recyle,” and phrases such as “the term of recycling” are awkward. Greater accuracy in collocation, word forms and spelling would make the vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate structures such as “Even if a person wants to…” and “For instance, depositing empty bottles…” Most sentences communicate their meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. In “the machinery … must be subsidized and bins must be place,” the second verb should be “placed”; “This not only encourage” needs subject–verb agreement (“encourages”); and “the benefits of recycling of waste” would be better structured as “the benefits of recycling waste.” The sentence beginning “Therefore, many less developed countries…” also has an unclear relationship between the preceding reasons and the claim that follows. More consistent control of verb forms, agreement and sentence construction would improve accuracy while retaining the current range.
