Student answer (Band 5.5)
People don't tend to recycle the trash, which is seen in many countries. I think mainly due to a lack of concern as most of them dont know the effects of recycling. This could be changed by awareness schemes that a common person can understand.
As seen in many nations, people do not recycle their trash, and they tend to throw their garbage here and there, which in turn causes an increase in pollution, diseases, daily lives of the community living in the locality, without them even realising the cause as they are unaware of it, that the effect is caused by them only. The governments of the countries are also responsible for this, as they should know the needs and requirements to control the pollution caused by this rubbish and create a solid framework for its management.
Many things can be done to change this; first of all the most important thing to do is to is As i have seen in my country, many people are still not literate, or even if they are, they dont know this aspect resulting in most of the common people still be unaware of what they are doing and how it will affect their future generations. This can be done by visual posters, awareness camps , having dedicated teachers teach students about recycling benefits and most important having some kind of reward system for people who recyles just like in Los Angles a CPV tag is there which when shown to recyling authorities rewards some amount of money.
I belong to Rajasthan and the government their has started an auto-tipper truck that collects trash every morning by going to every house of the area they are assigned with catchy music that connects to locals, and this was a huge success; many of my neighbours actually listened and understood the merits of recyling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you suggest that limited awareness is a reason for low recycling, and propose education, posters, rewards and collection services as solutions. The Rajasthan example of an auto-tipper truck also gives the response a relevant, personal illustration. However, some ideas are only briefly stated. For instance, the opening claim that people “dont know the effects of recycling” would be stronger if you explained what they misunderstand or why that prevents recycling. The discussion of government responsibility is also not clearly connected to a specific action. Develop the causes and explain how each proposed measure would change behaviour to make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an overall structure, moving from the problem and its causes to possible solutions and then a local example. This gives the reader a broad sense of progression. However, the first main paragraph contains several ideas in one long sentence, so the links between littering, pollution, disease and government responsibility become difficult to follow. The solutions paragraph also begins with “first of all” but then shifts into a personal observation without clearly organising the measures. Use separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and give each paragraph a clear central point. More precise linking and referencing would help readers see how each example supports the argument, rather than relying on repeated phrases such as “this” and “as seen.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “pollution,” “framework for its management,” “awareness camps” and “reward system.” These choices show an attempt to discuss recycling beyond basic terms. However, some wording is repetitive or imprecise: “trash,” “rubbish” and “garbage” recur without adding much distinction, while “daily lives of the community” does not fit clearly into the sentence about pollution and disease. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “recyling,” “Los Angles” and “dont,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, explain that poor waste disposal can “harm residents’ health” rather than listing effects in an unclear sequence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “as,” “which” and “even if,” and the main ideas can generally be understood. However, some sentences are incomplete or difficult to control. The opening, “I think mainly due to a lack of concern,” lacks a complete verb structure; “the most important thing to do is to is” is unfinished; and the long sentence beginning “As seen in many nations” has unclear grammatical relationships between its listed effects. There are also errors in agreement and sentence boundaries, such as “the government their has started.” Use shorter, complete sentences when presenting several points, and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
