Student answer (Band 6.0)

Globally, Citizens do not recycle their used garbage as much as they could.

There are two main reasons behind this. The primary reason to this is lack of knowledge of how to sort garbage. If people do not have proper knowledge of sorting rubbish then they always mix it with non recycleable and throw it with non-recycle rubbish, due to this municipal corporation can't manage it properly. The second most valid point is in many countries do not have proper waste management. If nations and cities do not have proper management of garbage then most of the recycle items are not recycled. The best example of this is surat municipal corporation who is managing waste very well and most of the rubbish is recycled by corporation.

To improve this the most practical solution to this problem is a goverment-sponsored awareness campaign. An effective advertising campaign could warn of the dangers of non-biodegradable waste and hopefully raise awareness amongst the public. For example the UK recently lobbiied their citizens to teach their children about impact of non-recyclable waste on environment and this resulted in drastic improvement. The second solution of this is goverment should improve their policies of recycling waste and as much as garbage should recycled also give rewards to public if they recycled grabge.

In conclusion, two main reasons behind this is lack of knowledge of people of waste management, and the other reason is goverments weak waste management programs. For this most valid solution is paid goverment awareness campigns and strong goverment policies towards bio-degradable waste and rewards to citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify limited knowledge and weak waste-management systems as causes, then propose awareness campaigns, stronger policies and rewards. These are relevant ideas, and the Surat example helps illustrate effective municipal recycling. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the claim that people mix recyclable rubbish with non-recyclables would be stronger if you explained why this happens, such as unclear labels or inconvenient collection facilities. The UK example is also vague: “recently lobbied their citizens” does not clarify what action was taken or how it produced improvement. Develop each cause and solution with a clearer explanation or specific supporting detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The primary reason,” “The second solution,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the repeated formulaic transitions make the links feel mechanical, and some references are unclear, as in “To improve this” and “The second solution of this.” The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use more varied linking and make each paragraph’s internal connections explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “waste management,” “non-biodegradable waste,” “awareness campaign,” and “recycling policies,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “municipal corporation.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated use of “garbage,” “waste,” and “government,” as well as inaccurate or awkward expressions such as “recycle items,” “paid government awareness campaigns,” and “lobbied their citizens.” Spelling errors—including “goverment,” “recycleable,” and “campigns”—also weaken precision. Build a more varied set of accurate collocations for recycling and public policy, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If people do not have proper knowledge … then they always mix it” and a longer sentence explaining the proposed campaign. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas less clear. For example, “The second most valid point is in many countries do not have” lacks a grammatical subject structure, while “as much as garbage should recycled” has an incomplete verb phrase. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “the other reason is goverments weak waste management programs.” Practise building accurate clauses and checking verb forms, articles and punctuation.
