Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While you have identified the main categories (sleeping, studying, relaxing), the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the data. You have attempted to compare the countries, but the lack of specific data points and the failure to synthesize the information effectively means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main trends and include more precise data comparisons rather than just describing each country in isolation. The under-length nature of the response prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'In UK', 'Now, comes Germany'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences feels disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'similarly' to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'ratio' where 'hours' or 'time spent' would be more accurate in the context of a bar chart. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'sleeping nature' and 'touching the peaks of studying', which are not natural collocations. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant', 'marginal', and 'allocated time'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adverbs will also help you achieve a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles (e.g., 'In UK'), incorrect pluralization ('ratioes'), and punctuation issues. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'stuying' and 'slighly'. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Try to incorporate a mix of complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, to demonstrate a wider grammatical range while ensuring you proofread carefully to eliminate simple slips.
