Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the chart, such as the time spent on sleeping, studying, and relaxation. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains factual inaccuracies regarding the data (e.g., stating Japan spends 13 hours studying when the chart likely shows a different figure, and misinterpreting the countries). The overview is missing, and the comparison between countries is inconsistent. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the most significant trends in an introductory overview and verify that your data points accurately reflect the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'In case of' and 'while'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three countries. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, perhaps by grouping countries or activities more logically to facilitate comparison.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'studying is an hobby which is most liked' and 'getting easy and relaxed'. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'leads the chart' or 'away 7 hours'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'allocate', 'proportion', or 'significant difference', rather than relying on informal or repetitive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('In UK', 'in Japan'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence structure, correct article usage, and proofreading for punctuation will help improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
