Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the bar chart, including study, sleep, and relaxation times for the three countries. You successfully identified the key trends, such as Japan's high study hours and the comparison of relaxation time. However, the response lacks a clear overview or summary paragraph, which is essential for Task 1. Additionally, the final sentence includes subjective commentary ('the students of Japan are very hardworking'), which is not appropriate for an objective data report. To improve, ensure you group information logically and focus strictly on describing the data without adding personal opinions or interpretations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is presented as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. In IELTS Task 1, you should use clear paragraphing to separate the introduction/overview from the body paragraphs. While you use some cohesive devices like 'whereas' and 'according to', the flow is somewhat mechanical. The lack of paragraph breaks significantly impacts the logical progression of your ideas. To achieve a higher score, organize your report into at least three distinct sections: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and detailed body paragraphs comparing the specific data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'hardworking' and 'division of time'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'Japanees' instead of 'Japanese', and some awkward phrasing like 'slightly high than' instead of 'slightly higher than'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and comparative structures, and ensure you check the spelling of key terms used in the prompt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('German students sleeps', 'Japanees students sleeps') and comparative adjectives ('high than' instead of 'higher than'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of comparative structures to improve your accuracy.
