Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to address the task requirements adequately. It is under the 150-word minimum, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While the student attempts to report on the data, the information provided is often inaccurate or confusing (e.g., stating '95% studying' for Germany, which is not supported by standard chart data). The overview is present but lacks clarity and fails to highlight the most significant trends effectively. Because the response is under-length and contains significant inaccuracies in data reporting, it does not meet the criteria for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused, such as 'furtheremore' and 'mean while'. The transition between ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three countries. Referencing is often unclear, and the lack of a clear structure for comparing the data points prevents the response from achieving a higher level of coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'studing', 'typiacl', and 'learner' instead of 'students'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe the data, relying on basic descriptors. The misuse of percentages and numbers further indicates a lack of control over the vocabulary required to accurately describe statistical information. To improve, the student needs to focus on using accurate terminology for data reporting and expanding their range of descriptive verbs and nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('the highest studing in the japan'), article usage, and sentence structure. Punctuation is also problematic, with misplaced commas and inconsistent capitalization. Complex structures are attempted but are consistently inaccurate, which hinders the clarity of the message. The frequency of these errors is high, and they often impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
