Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar graph illustrates the information about students prefer three activities in weekday in various countries.
Overall, studying recorded the highest number of weekdays in all the countries except the UK, while relaxing and sleeping both accounted for the small proportion of weekdays in three different countries. Relaxing showed an insignificant number of weekdays in Japan.
To begin with, Japan experienced the largest proportion of weekday for studying among all the three countries which was 13 days. The UK observed only 8 days for studying. Moreover, Germany showed 9 days which was the second dominant country or studying.
Turning to sleeping, a considerable figure was observed by the UK and it was around 8.5 days. Likewise, Germany had equal weekdays 8. Japan stood at 7 days which was the smallest figure.
In addition, for relaxing, the UK and Germany represented same proportion 7 days, whereas Japan recorded the lowest days (4).

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided bar chart. However, the interpretation of the data is significantly flawed. You have misinterpreted the units of measurement, referring to 'days' rather than hours, which fundamentally alters the accuracy of your report. While you have identified the main features and made some comparisons, the data points provided (e.g., '13 days') are factually incorrect based on the chart, which likely depicts hours in a day. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axes and labels of the graph before writing. The overview is present but lacks the precision required for a higher band score due to these factual inaccuracies.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific activity. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by the inaccurate data reporting. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to show contrast more effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow the structure of your report, but the overall coherence is affected by the misinterpretation of the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You use phrases like 'accounted for the small proportion' and 'observed only 8 days', which are functional but basic. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'students prefer three activities in weekday', which should be 'students' preferences for three activities on a weekday'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'a significant majority', 'a marginal difference', or 'the figures for...'. The current range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the flexibility needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'students prefer three activities in weekday' is grammatically incorrect, and 'accounted for the small proportion' should be 'accounted for a small proportion'. There are also issues with preposition usage and article omission. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
