Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar chart illustrate how students spend their weekday in three different countries.
Overall, Japan and germany students are giving more time for studying than relaxing. However, japan is leading country where students are choosing to study more. In UK they choose sleep over the study and relaxing. Germany is balancing all three equally.
The Japan has peaked in the studying with 13% in contrast with sleeping and relaxing which is 7% and 4%. Where as in Germany studying people are 9% and sleeping and relaxing are 8% and 7% which is high with comparison to japan sleeping and relaxing proportion.
Another country UK, which displays considerable number of students showing interest is sleeping that is 8.5% which is high with Japan and Germany. In addition to it studying and relaxing percentage has droped to 8 and 7 which is almost equavalent with Germany. In UK sleeping is topped which is slighty higher than studying and relaxing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the bar chart, but the analysis is hindered by inaccurate data interpretation. For example, you state Japan has 13% for studying, whereas the chart likely shows a much higher figure (e.g., 13 hours). The percentages provided throughout the text seem to misinterpret the units of the chart, leading to a factual inaccuracy. While you attempt to make comparisons between the three countries, the lack of clarity regarding the data units makes the summary confusing. To improve, ensure you accurately identify the units (hours vs. percentages) and focus on highlighting the most significant trends rather than listing every data point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, 'Where as in Germany' and 'In addition to it' are used in ways that do not flow naturally. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition between countries feels abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used with sufficient flexibility to create a smooth, logical flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'choosing', 'leading', and 'topped'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'studying people are 9%' and 'Japan has peaked in the studying'. These phrases are unnatural and do not demonstrate the precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'allocate', 'significant', or 'marginal', and ensure you use them in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The Japan has peaked', 'Germany and germany students are'), missing articles, and incorrect capitalization. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'In UK they choose sleep over the study and relaxing'. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
