Student answer (Band 5.0)
the bar chart illustrates the typical weekday for students UK, Japan and in Germany that how much they spend their times for sleeping, studying and also for relaxing.
Overall, most of the students spend their time on studying expect UK. The students of UK they usually spend more time for sleeping such as 8.5 hours. The three countries spend total 22 hours on only in studying on their weekend days.
From the three countries Japan spend less time for relaxing they spend more of the half day for only studying, for sleeping they spend only 7 hours of weekend days. As I seen in bar chart UK spend same hours on sleeping and studying expect relaxing.
From all the three countries, the country UK and Germany spend same time on relaxing. On sleeping both counties almost spend same time but not at all same there are difference of only 0.5 hour. In last Japan and Germany spend their time in weekend almost same for sleeping, studying and relaxing. They have only minor difference between this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the task but fails to accurately report the data. There are significant factual errors, such as claiming the chart shows 'weekend days' when the prompt specifies a 'typical weekday'. Furthermore, the data interpretation is inconsistent; for example, stating that students spend 22 hours studying in total across three countries is a miscalculation of the provided figures. The overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the main trends. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt and ensure that the data you extract from the chart is accurate and logically presented, rather than making generalisations that are not supported by the visual evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often confusing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'From the three countries' or 'In last'. Referencing is also problematic; for instance, the phrase 'the country UK and Germany' is awkward. The logical flow is frequently interrupted by inaccurate data reporting, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on the same few verbs like 'spend' and 'is'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'expect UK' (likely meaning 'except') and 'more of the half day'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To improve, you should learn specific vocabulary related to describing charts, such as 'allocate', 'proportion', 'majority', and 'significant', and practice using these in the context of comparing data points between different groups.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Japan spend', 'UK spend'), missing articles ('the UK'), and awkward sentence structures ('that how much they spend their times'). Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when they are, they often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these common errors before finishing will help improve your accuracy significantly.
