Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview. You successfully identified the main features, such as the high study hours in Japan and the comparative sleep patterns. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data accuracy; for instance, stating that Japanese students study for 13 hours is a significant overstatement based on typical bar chart data for this task type. Additionally, the overview could be more concise. While you made relevant comparisons, ensure that the data points cited are precise to avoid misrepresenting the information provided in the visual aid.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In comparison' and 'whereas', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'And on the other side, the spend the least amount'. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, but the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the one's') is grammatically accurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dedicating', 'academics', and 'margin'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pay significant amount in studies' (should be 'spend a significant amount of time on studies') and 'comforting period'. There are also minor spelling and punctuation errors, such as 'there' instead of 'their' and 'one's' instead of 'ones'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score. Expanding your range of academic collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'students in UK and Germany generally spend much lesser time' (should be 'less time') and 'students in UK' (missing 'the'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are occasionally inconsistent. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the report. To improve, focus on article usage (the UK) and comparative structures to ensure greater accuracy in your writing.
