Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you attempt to identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the data. The description of the data is often confusing, such as the reference to 'relaxing' which does not appear in the chart, and the figures provided are difficult to follow or verify against the visual information. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main trends and support your points with accurate data points from the chart. You must also ensure the response is of sufficient length to fully address all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. Paragraphs are poorly defined, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'In terms of', 'followed by'), they are used mechanically and do not effectively link the information. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparisons between the three countries. To improve, focus on grouping related information into distinct paragraphs and using transition words more naturally to guide the reader through your analysis.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice, such as 'remaining nation accounted identical proportion' and 'prefered thing to do'. The use of 'relaxing' as a country name is a significant error that indicates a lack of attention to the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant', 'fluctuate', or 'comparable', and ensure that your terminology is accurate and appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'student of Japan showed', 'uk and Germany showed same number'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Practicing complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, will also help improve your score.
