Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by summarizing the bar chart data. However, it fails to provide a clear overview or identify the most significant trends. The data reporting is inaccurate and confusing; for example, the student refers to '8.5 percent' when the chart likely depicts hours, and the comparisons are poorly articulated. The response lacks a formal tone appropriate for an Academic Task 1, as it includes conversational filler like 'I would like about to talk about'. To improve, you must focus on reporting the actual data accurately and providing a clear summary of the main features rather than listing points in a disjointed manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Thirdly', which do not effectively link the data points. The final paragraph is vague and does not serve as a proper conclusion. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three countries. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical focus that contributes to the overall summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There is a lack of precision in describing data, such as using 'percentage' incorrectly to describe time-based data. The phrasing is often unnatural and informal, such as 'we gonna talk about' and 'the most important thing that world requires'. There is no attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends or comparisons. To improve, you should learn specific vocabulary for describing charts, such as 'account for', 'the majority of', 'a significant difference', and 'compared to'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and missing punctuation. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, and the use of articles and prepositions is often incorrect. The range of structures is very limited, relying mostly on simple, poorly constructed sentences. For example, 'the majority individuals would would to sleep' is grammatically incoherent. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on eliminating repetitive words and fragments.
