Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main categories (sleeping, studying, resting), the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary depth to fully address the task. You have reported some data points, but the comparison between countries is underdeveloped. To improve, you must ensure you meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive overview that highlights significant trends or striking differences rather than just listing individual figures. The lack of sufficient detail means the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover', but they are used repetitively and sometimes inappropriately to link simple lists of data. The overall structure feels disjointed because the sentences are short and lack complex logical connections. To improve, focus on grouping related information more effectively and using a wider variety of linking words to create a smoother flow between your sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple verbs like 'spend' and 'devote'. There is little evidence of a range of vocabulary suitable for describing data, such as terms for trends or comparisons (e.g., 'account for', 'the highest proportion', 'a significant contrast'). You also have some issues with capitalization (e.g., 'UK', 'JAPAN') and word choice, such as 'weekdays routine' instead of 'weekday routines'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure consistent formatting for proper nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammar is generally understandable, but the range of structures is limited. You rely mostly on simple sentences, and there are several errors in articles and prepositions, such as 'most of students' (should be 'most students') and 'rest of information' (should be 'the rest of the information'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and pay closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy, especially with articles and pluralization.
