The bar chart shows the typical weekday for students in three different countries.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given bar chart illustrates the students' behavior towards three particular activities (sleeping, studying and relaxing) in three different countries, namely the UK, Japan, and Germany, on weekdays. Overall, it is evident that Japanese students study for longer periods and spend less time sleeping and relaxing, while the students in the other two countries are more balanced in their approach towards each activity. The highest figure is for studying in Japan, which is recorded at 13 hours, while the lowest figure is also from Japan, where relaxing time is stated as 4 hours.

First, students in Japan study for 13 hours, while students in Germany and the UK study for 9 and 8 hours respectively, with only a one-hour gap between the latter two countries, but considerably lower figures than Japan. Secondly, the sleeping behavior across all three countries is relatively similar, at 7 hours in Japan, 8 hours in Germany, and 8.5 hours in the UK. Last but not least, the time pupils spend on relaxation. In both the UK and Germany, students relax for the same amount of time, which is 7 hours. On the contrary, Japanese students allocate less time to relaxation, which is only 4 hours
