Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Furthermore, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. While you have attempted to report some data points, the selection is fragmented and fails to provide a coherent comparison of the three countries. The response ends abruptly, leaving the analysis unfinished. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview of the main features and ensure the response is of sufficient length to fully address all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between ideas is often mechanical, using phrases like 'In the Uk' and 'As the bar chart indecate' without effectively linking the data points to form a cohesive narrative. The lack of a concluding summary or a clear structure makes the information difficult to follow. Additionally, the abrupt ending disrupts the overall coherence of the report. Using a wider range of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would help improve the logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms such as 'number of', 'percentage', and 'students'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'indecate' (indicate), 'gremany' (Germany), and 'gradullay rasing' (gradually rising). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied verbs to describe trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'remain stable', or 'account for', and ensure you check your spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The bar chart illustrate', 'number of sleeping students are'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, with most sentences being simple or poorly constructed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters for proper nouns like 'Uk' and 'japan'. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and capitalization would significantly improve your accuracy.
