IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The bar chart shows the typical weekday for students in three different countries.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The information showed on the bar chart is about the weekday habits of students from united kingdom, japan and germany. The activity are divided into three types sleeping, studying and relaxing.

The students of United Kingdom and germany have similar sleeping and relaxing hours . According to the chart the german students tend to study 9 hours while the UK students are found of studying 8 hours.

The thing that stands out is the students of japan that sleep for only 7 hours and relax for 4 hours lowest of all the three. The surprising thing is the amount of hours they spent on studying which is 13, which is double the amount of both UK and Germany.

This shows that Japanese students tend to spend much of their day studying. This is also due to the fact that their culture encourages this type of behaviour.

Students of both UK and Germany have quite similar weekday activity, german students tend to spend one hour extra of studying.
