Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the task by describing the bar chart, but it fails to provide a clear overview or effectively highlight the main trends and comparisons. The information is presented in a fragmented manner, and the data points are often unclear or inaccurately described, such as 'the highest peak point of studding in Japan'. The response lacks a logical summary of the key features, and the comparison between countries is underdeveloped. To improve, you should focus on identifying the most significant differences and similarities, such as the contrast between study hours in Japan versus the UK, and ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the categories provided in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure, with paragraphs that do not follow a logical progression. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical or misused, such as 'And different assert in minimum' and 'In the most strength country'. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three countries. To improve, you should use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'whereas', 'similarly') to connect your ideas more fluidly and logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate, which hinders the clarity of the report. Phrases like 'studding', 'relaxing point', and 'the most strength country' are non-standard and do not accurately convey the intended meaning. There is a lack of academic vocabulary appropriate for describing data, such as 'proportion', 'significant', or 'fluctuation'. To improve, you should learn specific collocations for describing charts and graphs and avoid using informal or invented terminology. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you communicate your observations more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'student are focusing'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple and often fragmented, lacking the complexity required for higher bands. For example, 'the studies approach on the largest point is 13' is syntactically confusing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization. Once you have a solid foundation, work on combining simple sentences into complex ones using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions.
