The bar chart shows the typical weekday for students in three different countries.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar chart displays the typical weekday for students in three different countries.
Overall, students of Japan spend most of their days in studying and very few days in relaxing while students of Japan and UK give almost same time in studying, relaxing and sleepings.
The students in the UK waste 8.5 days out of 14 in sleeping which is the highest sleeping rate, only 8 days in studying which is also the lowest and not enough for an extraordinary growth and 7 days in relaxing. However, the students in Japan invest the most of their days (13 out of 14) in studying, 7 days in relaxing and only 4 days in relaxing, showing that the students are more ambitious and do not waste their time in co-circular activities. Students of Germany also, waste their 8 days in sleeping, 9 days in studying and a whole week in just relaxing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to accurately report the information provided in the chart. There are significant factual errors; for example, you state that UK students spend 8.5 days sleeping, whereas the chart clearly indicates different values. Furthermore, the analysis is contradictory, such as claiming Japan spends 7 days in relaxing and then immediately stating they spend 4 days in relaxing. The overview is also confusing, as it repeats information and misinterprets the data. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axes and labels of the chart before writing, and avoid making subjective judgments like 'not enough for an extraordinary growth' or 'waste their time', as these are not supported by the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by factual inaccuracies and confusing comparisons. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical or misused, such as the transition 'However' which does not logically connect the preceding and following points. Referencing is also unclear, particularly when comparing the three countries, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended comparisons. Improving the logical flow between sentences and ensuring that cohesive devices are used to link related ideas accurately would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and limited. You frequently use the word 'days' and 'waste', which is not always appropriate for describing data. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'co-circular activities' (likely meaning 'extra-curricular') and 'sleepings'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To achieve a higher band, try to use a wider variety of verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'allocate', 'devote', 'proportion', and 'figures', and ensure that you use terms that accurately reflect the context of the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'students of Japan spend most of their days in studying' (should be 'studying' without 'in') and 'students of Japan and UK give almost same time' (missing articles). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence structure, article usage, and correct prepositional phrases will help improve your accuracy.
