Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main features of the chart, the analysis is somewhat superficial. You have attempted to report the data for the three countries, but the lack of sufficient length means the comparison is not fully developed. To improve, ensure you provide a more detailed overview and include more specific data points or comparative analysis to meet the length requirement and provide a comprehensive summary of the information presented in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Turning to', and 'In contrast' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate for a report, but the brevity of the content makes the overall progression feel somewhat abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph develops a clear, cohesive point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'recorded as the highest in figures' and 'marked proportionality' are slightly awkward and unnatural. You rely on basic descriptors and repetitive structures to report the data. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to trends and data comparison, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'a significant disparity', and ensure that your collocations are accurate and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'recorded as the highest in figures in hours for spending in studying' and 'people relaxing hours showed gradual decline'. These errors, while not completely impeding communication, occur frequently enough to affect the clarity of your writing. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Additionally, aim to construct more complex sentences with greater accuracy to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
