According to the chart students in UK spend most of their time sleeping and relaxing around 8-8.5 hours throughout the week, while students in Germany has slightly better profile than students in UK they spend around 9 hours studying and around 7-8 hours sleeping and performing other activities. Japan has best profile from all three countries a common student spend 13 hours studying on typical weekday and around 8 hours sleeping and 4 hours on different activities.
In conclusion students in Japan focuses more on their studies rather than wasting it on other activities and they utilise their relaxing time in completing their chores. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the chart, but it lacks a clear overview, which is essential for Task 1. While you have identified some data points, the analysis is somewhat superficial and relies on subjective interpretation (e.g., 'Japan has best profile') rather than objective reporting. Furthermore, the inclusion of external knowledge about technology and business in the conclusion is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1, as the task requires you to report only on the provided data. To improve, focus on grouping the data logically and providing a clear summary of the main trends without adding personal opinions or outside information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition between the data description and the conclusion is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'best profile from all three countries', where the connection to the data could be more explicit. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'spend' and 'activities'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'weekly time spend my students' (should be 'time spent by students') and 'has slightly better profile'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied verbs and nouns to describe data, such as 'allocate', 'devote', 'proportion', or 'figure', and ensure that your collocations are natural and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('students in Germany has', 'a common student spend') and missing articles or prepositions ('spend most of their time', 'focuses more on their studies'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are clearly demarcated with appropriate punctuation.
