Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The candidate has attempted to report the data from the bar chart regarding sleeping, studying, and relaxing hours in the UK, Japan, and Germany. The core figures are mentioned, such as UK sleeping 8.5 hours and Japan studying 13 hours. However, the response includes a significant amount of irrelevant personal commentary, subjective opinions, and colloquial phrasing such as 'Soo everyone feel pity for japan students' and 'health is wealth'. This prevents the response from presenting a fully academic overview and comparisons. Consequently, it falls into the Band 5 range because the ideas are limited, under-developed, and mixed with personal tangents rather than strictly summarising the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks appropriate paragraphing entirely, being written as a single block of text that cuts off mid-sentence at the end ('theyare right on that point they are woeking hard and make th'). Cohesive devices are extremely basic and repetitive, relying on repetitive structures like 'the students of uk... but the students of japan...' with little variety. There is no clear overall progression or logical structure typical of an Academic Task 1 response. Referencing and logical connectors are missing or faulty, which places this text at a Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive throughout the response. Words like 'student', 'sleep', 'study', and 'relax' are used repeatedly without variation. There are noticeable spelling errors ('woeking') and non-standard collocations ('take sleep'). The attempt to use more advanced ideas results in unnatural phrasing like 'health is wealth'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, the limited range and repetitive nature place it firmly in the Band 5 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences or poorly joined clauses using commas instead of proper conjunctions or full stops (e.g., 'the students of uk study only for 8 hours like this the students of germany study only for 9 hours'). There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('or in germany', 'but in japan'). Complex structures are rarely attempted accurately, and frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 descriptors.
