Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main features of the chart, presenting data for sleeping, studying, and relaxing across the three countries. However, it fails to meet the minimum length requirement, falling short at 141 words, which impacts the overall completeness of the task. While an overview is attempted, it is overly simplistic and inaccurate, claiming that the "highest number of learners are spending their weekdays on studying and least count on relaxing," which does not accurately reflect all categories or countries. Data selection is somewhat mechanical, and comparisons are limited or flawed, such as misinterpreting the hours spent. To achieve a higher band, the response must meet the word count minimum, present a clearer and more accurate overview, and develop comparisons more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall coherent arrangement with basic paragraphing that separates the introduction, overview, and body details. However, progression is sometimes hindered by awkward transitions and mechanical cohesive devices, such as "To begin with" and "Shifting towards the remaining details." Referencing and logical flow between sentences occasionally falter, as seen in abrupt shifts between countries without clear comparative links. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that ideas within and between paragraphs flow logically without repetitive or stilted phrasing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but this leads to noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and phrasing, such as "number of weekdays like sleeping" instead of hours spent on activities, and "alarmin rate" (spelling error). Other inaccurate expressions include "least count on relaxing" and "number of studying." These lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations cause some difficulty for the reader. To move up a band, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, use precise terms for statistical data, and ensure accurate word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly constructed complex forms. Frequent errors occur in verb tenses, agreements, and prepositions, such as "this count is rise rapidly" instead of rose rapidly, "number is decrease" instead of decreased, and "this count decline at an alarmin rate and stand at 4." Punctuation and article usage also show frequent inaccuracies. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer must practice forming accurate verb tenses for past and present data, control simple and complex sentence patterns more reliably, and reduce basic grammatical errors.
