Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response addresses the task only minimally, failing to meet the required 150-word minimum by stopping at 129 words. While you attempt to report some figures from the chart, such as the sleeping hours in the UK, Germany, and Japan, your selection of main features is basic and lacks a well-developed overview. Phrases like 'the population of students studying in Japan and in Germany was in high value' misinterpret the data, as the chart shows hours spent on daily activities rather than population counts. To reach a higher level, you must write at least 150 words, present a clear and accurate overview of the main trends without misinterpreting the units of measurement, and provide a more thorough comparison across all three categories.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation in your writing, with basic transition markers such as 'Overall', 'Firstly', and 'Seconly' to structure your paragraphs. However, the overall progression is limited because the paragraphs are disjointed and rely on repetitive sentence patterns. Furthermore, cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, as seen in the misspelled transition 'Seconly'. To improve coherence and cohesion, you should group related information more logically—such as discussing sleeping, studying, and relaxing across all countries in a structured comparative format—and use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally to connect your ideas smoothly from one sentence to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic information about the chart. You make noticeable errors in word choice and phrasing, such as writing 'the population of students ... was in high value' and 'the number of relaxing is in very low quantity', which sound unnatural and cause some difficulty for the reader. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'Germony' and 'Seconly'. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider and more precise range of vocabulary suitable for describing statistical data, avoiding awkward collocations and ensuring that terms relating to quantities and categories are used accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent grammatical errors. You struggle with subject-verb agreement and prepositional patterns, as demonstrated in phrases like 'gives the information about students ... what they do' and 'the sleeping period in UK and in Germony is almost same'. Articles are also missing or misused in several places, such as omitting 'the' before 'UK'. Errors are frequent and can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammatical score, you should practice forming complex sentences accurately, ensure correct article usage, and pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and prepositions.
