Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response only partially addresses the task and fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, falling short at 139 words. While you attempted to summarize the main categories of sleeping, studying, and relaxing across the UK, Japan, and Germany, the selection of data is incomplete and contains inaccuracies. For instance, stating that studying in the UK had a 'figure of 8 days' misinterprets the data, as the chart measures hours per weekday rather than days. The overview is overly simplistic, claiming 'all countries showed similar trend' when the chart actually displays distinct variations, such as Japan's exceptionally high studying hours. To achieve a higher band, you must ensure your response meets the word count, accurately interpret the units of measurement shown in the visual data, and provide a clearer, more precise overview of the main trends and notable comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with an introductory sentence, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs for each country, but the overall progression lacks clarity. The use of cohesive devices is frequently mechanical, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as starting consecutive sentences with 'At first,' 'Similarly,' and 'Likewise.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of information could be managed more logically to help the reader follow the comparisons between countries. Referencing between sentences is sometimes unclear, making the relationships between the data points difficult to track. To improve, you should use a wider variety of transitional phrases naturally, ensure that ideas flow smoothly from one sentence to the next without repetitive connectors, and structure your paragraphs so that comparisons are grouped by category or country in a more coherent manner.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Phrases such as 'change in weekday for learners under three different categories' sound unnatural and imprecise for describing a bar chart. Furthermore, words like 'weekday' are misused to describe hours or numerical values, as seen in 'studying exceeded to 13 weekday' and 'relaxing was accounted for 4 weekday.' There are also issues with prepositional collocations and word forms, such as 'showed slightly declined' instead of a slight decline. To move to a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary beyond basic terms, learn correct collocations for describing statistical data, and use precise nouns and verbs to report figures accurately without awkward phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Attempts at more complex structures often result in faulty patterns, such as passive voice misuse in 'sleeping was represented to 8 weekdays' and incorrect verb forms like 'studying had the figure of 8 days and relaxing was slighty lower'. Prepositions and verb complementation are frequently mishandled, as seen in 'sleeping constituted to 8.5' and 'studying exceeded to 13'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty and confusion for the reader. To improve your grammar score, you should focus on mastering standard sentence patterns for reporting data, eliminate frequent errors with prepositions and verb forms, and practice constructing error-free complex sentences.
