Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially by outlining some main features from the bar chart, such as mentioning the highest studying hours in Japan and general values across categories. However, the selection of data lacks full development and contains inaccuracies, particularly in the reporting of trends where the text describes chronological or directional changes like "started higher at 8.5 in UK and slightly dcreasing at 7 in japan afterwards it followed an upward surge" for static data points on a bar chart. An overview is attempted, but it remains limited and does not adequately summarise the broader comparative trends across all three countries, placing the response firmly at this intermediate level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation with paragraphing used to separate different categories of the chart, providing a coherent overall arrangement. However, logical progression is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing such as "Pouring some light on" and "Talking about". Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurately applied, and referencing within sentences can occasionally be unclear. Paragraphs are discernible, but the overall flow between ideas lacks seamless connection, reflecting the characteristics of this band level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with sufficient range to discuss everyday academic topics and chart data like "categories", "fluctuations", and "stable". However, there are noticeable lexical errors and issues with word choice, spelling, and phrasing, such as "countires", "dcreasing", "heighest", and "thorugh". Less common vocabulary attempts are restricted, and inaccuracies in word formation and collocation cause some slight difficulty or hesitation for the reader, preventing access to higher descriptor bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple or straightforward clause patterns. Attempts at more complex structures frequently result in faulty syntax and punctuation errors. Frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ("its value were"), capitalization oversights ("japan", "uk"), missing articles, and awkward prepositional phrasing. These errors are recurrent and require the reader to occasionally decipher the intended meaning, keeping the accuracy score at this level.
