Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially, as it reports some of the main features such as Japan having the highest studying time and lowest relaxing time. However, it fails to meet the minimum length requirement, falling short at 148 words. Furthermore, the data reporting contains inaccuracies, such as using percentages (e.g., "proportion of 13%" and "with4%") instead of hours, which misinterprets the chart's unit of measurement. While an overview is attempted, the development of ideas is limited and mechanical, resulting in an uneven presentation of the information provided in the bar graph.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation with the use of introductory and transitional phrases like "overall it can be inferred" and "A quick glance towards bar graph", but there is a lack of clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, though formatting and spacing are slightly irregular. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, such as the abrupt transition in "After scrutinized the rest of the information". Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical flow prevents the essay from achieving a smooth, logical progression throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic points about the chart. There are noticeable lexical and spelling errors that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as "scrutinized" instead of "scrutinising", "supersede" used awkwardly for comparison, and "haf" instead of "had". Word choice is occasionally imprecise, and the incorrect use of percentage signs for numerical hours demonstrates a lack of control over data-specific terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, such as in the clause "wherease, UK and Germany was 8%and 9% respectively." There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ("Japan hold", "Germany and UK was"), missing articles ("in vertical graph"), and punctuation errors. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
