Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features: Japan has the highest study figure (13), its relaxation figure is the lowest (4), and UK and Germany both record 7 hours of relaxation. You also compare studying across the countries and include most of the chart’s key values. However, the overview is difficult to interpret, and some statements are inaccurate or unclear: “the lowest rank is in uk in studying” is wrong, since Japan—not the UK—has the highest study figure, while the UK’s 8 is the lowest. The claim that the UK has the highest sleeping figure is also incorrect; its 8.5 is only slightly above Germany’s 8. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the main features more fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and expressions such as “By contrast” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several comparisons are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the sentence beginning “The japan people was top in studying” shifts from study figures to sleeping and relaxing without clear transitions. The overview also combines several points in a way that obscures their relationships. Use one paragraph for the overall pattern, then group details by country or activity, and make each sentence express one clear comparison. Check punctuation and paragraph breaks so the reader can follow the sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “highest,” “lowest,” “compared to,” and “significantly,” and the activity labels are generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “the mostly people studying,” “highest rate of sleeping,” and “the number of relaxing people.” The chart reports hours, so describe the figures as time spent or hours, rather than as people or percentages. Spelling errors such as “higest,” “amoung,” “garmany,” and “compaired” are also noticeable. More accurate, task-specific phrasing would improve precision and make the comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas hard to follow. Examples include “The bar chart illustrate,” “The japan people was top,” and “they are higest,” where subject–verb agreement and sentence formation are faulty. Several sentences run together, particularly the long sentence beginning “The japan people was top in studying,” and punctuation is often missing after introductory phrases such as “Overview” and “By contrast.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas with controlled clauses. For example: “Japan recorded 13 hours of study, the highest figure, while its relaxation time was 4 hours, the lowest.”
