Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response reports the main figures accurately and makes relevant comparisons: Japan has the highest study time at 13 hours and the least relaxation at 4, while UK students sleep the longest at 8.5 hours. The country-by-country paragraphs also cover all three activities, so the key information is addressed. The overview, however, is unclear and internally inconsistent: it first says UK students spend the most time sleeping, then claims German students have the highest study time, although Japan leads. The fragment “the most noticebale between Japan and other two countries” does not explain the main contrast. The closing overview is more accurate, but repeats the study-time point. A clearer, consistent summary of the largest differences would make the overview more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the UK/Japan and Germany. Comparisons such as “in comparison” and “whereas” help connect related information. However, progression is weakened by the two overview statements, which conflict, and by the fragment “the most noticebale between Japan and other two countries.” The final paragraph beginning “overall” repeats an overview rather than adding a clear concluding point. Some links are also mechanical, with repeated “they spend” and “students.” Organise the overview into one complete paragraph, then group comparisons consistently—for example, compare all countries’ study hours before discussing sleep and relaxation—to make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough task-related vocabulary to describe the chart, including “highest figure,” “in comparison,” “slightly less,” and “balanced weekday routine.” These phrases show some range beyond basic listing. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “noticebale,” “studuying,” “Japenese,” and “stusents,” and some expressions are unnatural: “spend the most time for sleeping” and “the most noticeable between Japan and other two countries.” The repeated use of “spend time” and “hours” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; phrases such as “spend the most time sleeping” and “the most striking difference is between Japan and the other two countries” would express the intended comparisons more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes a mix of simple statements and some more developed comparisons, such as “students in the UK sleep for 8.5 hours per day, which is the highest figure among the three countries.” Most figures remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems reduce control. The opening has an awkward plural construction in “on a weekdays,” while “students in UK” and “those in UK” omit the article. The overview contains sentence fragments and inconsistent sentence boundaries, particularly “the most noticebale between Japan and other two countries.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent at sentence beginnings, including “overall” and “they.” Use complete sentences, check articles and plural forms, and punctuate the overview carefully while retaining the useful comparative structures already attempted.
