Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main contrast: Japan has the highest study figure and the lowest relaxation figure, and you include figures for all three countries. However, the report is only a partial summary: it gives little comparison across the categories and does not clearly highlight that studying is the largest activity in each country. There is also a significant data error: Japan’s study figure is 13 hours, not 23. The overview’s phrase “highest students” is unclear because the chart reports hours, not numbers of students. The response is 23 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail available. To strengthen the report, accurately compare the three countries and explain the key patterns using the chart’s units.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate details for Japan, the UK and Germany. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “To start with” and “Besides this” help signal movement between points, although some connections feel mechanical and the country-by-country sequence does not develop comparisons between countries. The overview also combines two ideas in a sentence that is difficult to interpret. For clearer progression, group related comparisons—for example, compare study hours across all three countries, then sleeping and relaxing—and use concise transitions that show those relationships.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “sleeping,” “relaxing,” “studying,” “highest” and “proportion,” so the reader can generally identify the activities being described. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “highest students doing studying,” “on 7 and 4 number” and “weekdays pattern.” These expressions make some comparisons unclear, particularly because the chart shows hours rather than student counts. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “illustartes,” “dpoing,” “stydying” and “alomost.” Use precise chart language such as “hours spent studying” and “the figure for relaxation,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including the overview beginning “Overall” and the country-specific descriptions. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and agreement occur often enough to make some statements difficult to understand. For example, “Japan students spend weekdays in studying that accounted for 23” has an unclear subject and inconsistent verb form, while “sleeping and relaxing is on 7 and 4 number” has agreement and sentence-pattern problems. The phrase “In term of Uk and Germany almost similar weekdays pattern” is also not a complete, well-formed sentence. Practise building clear comparisons with a subject, verb and unit, such as “Japan recorded 13 hours of study, compared with 8 in the UK.”
