Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the three countries and cover sleeping, studying and relaxing, with several relevant figures, including Japan’s 13 hours of study and the 7-hour relaxation figures for the UK and Germany. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “students from Japan spend almost half of their day in studies” is not a precise summary, and the chart shows Japan sleeping 7 hours, less than both the UK and Germany—not more. The final sentence also says Germany relaxes for only 4 hours, when that figure belongs to Japan. The response is below the required 150 words, which limits how fully you can select and explain the main features. Check each comparison against the chart and include a clear, accurate overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a summary statement and details about the countries. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “followed by” help show ranking. However, progression is limited because the overview is vague and the details are not grouped consistently. The final paragraph begins “In all,” but repeats relaxation information and contains a contradictory country comparison, so the connection between ideas is difficult to follow. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent, and the short response leaves comparisons underdeveloped. Organise the body by activity or by country, use clear linking phrases to compare figures, and ensure each paragraph adds a distinct feature.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of basic task vocabulary, including “activities,” “spend,” “maximum,” “followed by” and “relaxation,” so the general topic is clear. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “time is utilized” and “used 7 hours of their time.” However, several expressions are awkward or imprecise: “illustrates about various activities” and “very few time is utilized for relaxation” do not sound natural, while “people” is less precise than “students” in this context. Repetition of “spend” and “time” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate collocations such as “the chart compares,” “devote time to,” and “spend fewer hours relaxing,” while keeping the wording concise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You form some understandable simple sentences and attempt longer comparisons, for example, “students from Japan spend the maximum of their time to study which is greater than 50 percent time of a day.” However, the longer structures are often faulty or unclear, and most sentences rely on basic patterns. There are errors in articles and sentence boundaries, including “In UK” and the lowercase “students” after full stops. The comparison “1 hour and 1.5 hours less than Japan and Germany” is also grammatically difficult to interpret, and “students of Germany use only 4 hours” has an unclear reference. Practise accurate comparative clauses and check articles, capital letters and punctuation when editing.
