Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify all three countries and report the main figures for sleeping, studying and relaxing, with the values generally matching the chart. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the most important comparisons. Japan’s 13 hours of study and only 4 hours of relaxation are notable extremes, but these are mixed with personal advice and opinions such as “you have to make your base strong.” The chart describes typical weekday activities, so claims about what is “enough” for the body or what makes someone successful are not supported by the data. To strengthen the response, summarise the overall pattern objectively, then compare the countries using the figures rather than evaluating their routines.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic country-by-country structure, and phrases such as “In addition” and “In last” signal movement between sections. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: figures, explanations and advice run together, as in the UK paragraph, where sleeping, studying and relaxing are followed by general comments about study habits. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and the opening does not establish a clear overview. Use one concise introduction and overview, followed by clearly organised comparisons. Keep each paragraph focused on chart information and use linking words only where they show a genuine relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “scheduled,” “study,” “rest” and “routine,” and the activity categories are mostly recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, while frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices strain the reader: examples include “Bar Chat,” “Germney,” “lesuire” and “preception.” Several expressions are also unsuitable for an objective chart summary, such as “successful man” and “life changing step.” Aim for precise, neutral language that describes data, using terms such as “spend,” “hours,” “the highest figure” and “compared with.” Proofread spelling carefully, especially country names and common academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, but control is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Majority students have there sleep scheduled thery slpet Arount 8.5 hours per day” has problems with articles, possessives and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as seen in the long UK and Japan sections, where several ideas are joined without clear stops. There are some simple sentence patterns, such as “they study 9 hours,” but little accurate variety. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine related comparisons with controlled clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation during revision.
