Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the three countries and report the main figures for sleeping, studying and relaxing, including the key contrast that Japanese students study the most and relax the least. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the details, and some comparisons are inaccurate or confusing. For example, “less time for relaxing is devoted by Japan and germany and uk both take same time” incorrectly groups the countries: Japan records 4 hours, while the UK and Germany each record 7. The final statement also says Germany and Japan spend more time relaxing, which conflicts with the chart. A clearer overview of the highest and lowest figures, followed by accurate comparisons, would make the response more complete and reliable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some paragraphing and uses basic linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast” and “In addition,” so the reader can identify the general topic and several comparisons. However, ideas do not progress clearly: the first paragraph lists all three countries, while the next repeats Germany’s figures and returns to the UK and Japan. The conclusion then repeats the study comparison and introduces a contradictory claim about relaxation. Some connectors are also awkwardly placed, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Organise the response into a concise overview and a body that groups the most important comparisons, avoiding repeated figures and ensuring each linking phrase accurately signals the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the chart’s categories, including “studying,” “relaxation” and “sleep,” and you attempt alternatives such as “devoted” and “take.” However, the range is limited and several choices or forms sound unnatural, for example “the weekday that are spend,” “make themselves relax” and “the time spend.” Repetition of “spend” and “time” also makes the description less precise. Spelling and capitalisation errors, including “Morever” and inconsistent “Uk,” reduce accuracy. Use standard chart-reporting collocations such as “spent on studying,” “allocated to relaxation” and “recorded,” and check spelling and country-name capitalisation. This would make the comparisons clearer and more appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can generally understand the intended figures. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. Examples include “the weekday that are spend,” where the verb form and agreement are faulty, and “The time spend in Uk for studying is lower than germany where students study for 8 hours,” which has an incorrect participle and an unclear comparison. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the run-on sequence after “8.5 hours.” Practise accurate past-participle forms and build comparisons with clear subjects and parallel structures, for example, “UK students spent 8 hours studying, compared with 9 in Germany.”
