Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the three activities and countries, and you make relevant comparisons, such as Japan’s study time being highest and relaxation being equal in the UK and Germany. However, the response only partially reports the chart’s main features: it gives no clear overview of the key pattern that studying takes the most time in Japan and Germany, while sleeping is highest in the UK. Several figures are also misrepresented. The chart shows hours, not percentages, so “1.5%” and “13% more” are inaccurate; UK sleeping is 8.5 hours versus 7 in Japan and 8 in Germany. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. Include accurate units and a fuller overview, then support it with correctly stated comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview beginning “Overall,” and a paragraph of comparisons. Linking words such as “while” and “However” show an attempt to connect contrasting information. However, progression is limited because the comparisons are presented in a compressed sequence, and the overview does not clearly organise the main patterns before the details. Some connections are also difficult to follow, particularly “The time spend for learning is substantial high in Japan which is 13% more than 4% and 5% from Uk and Germany.” Use separate, clearly ordered sentences for sleeping, studying and relaxing, and make each comparison explicit. This would improve the flow and make the relationships between figures easier to understand.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “comparison,” “variation,” “substantial” and “consumed,” and the reader can generally identify the activities being discussed. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “sleeping observe a slight rise and fall,” “relaxing are getting very less attention,” and “using very less time” do not express the chart information naturally. “Learning time” is understandable, but “study time” is more appropriate for the chart’s category. The repeated use of “time” and “students” also makes the vocabulary range feel limited. Aim for precise reporting phrases such as “spent,” “accounted for,” and “was higher than,” while checking that the chosen verb fits the subject.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a sentence beginning “However.” Nevertheless, errors occur frequently and sometimes make comparisons hard to interpret. Examples include “Relaxing are getting,” where the subject and verb do not agree, “Students from Uk sleeps,” and “The time spend,” which needs a past participle in this construction. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “in various countries which are Uk, Japan and Germany.” The long comparison about Japan’s study time is not grammatically clear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide complex comparisons into shorter sentences with a clear subject and verb.
