Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main contrasts accurately: Japan has the most study time (13 hours), while the UK and Germany record 8 and 9; relaxing is 4 hours in Japan and 7 in each of the other countries. The overview also recognises Japan’s high study figure and the UK and Germany’s shared relaxing figure. This covers the key categories and supports the given level. However, the overview’s claim that sleeping “takes a lead” in both the UK and Germany is imprecise: sleeping is highest in the UK, but studying is highest in Germany. The response also repeats comparisons rather than developing the overall pattern clearly. State the main ranking for each country accurately, and consistently describe the figures as hours rather than percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs comparing the three activities. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between points. However, progression is weakened by repeated information: the final two sentences restate that Japan is highest for education and lowest for relaxing and sleeping, after these comparisons have already been made. Some transitions are also awkward or mechanically placed, and the overview’s comparison of sleeping does not lead cleanly into the country-by-country details. Organise the body around a clear comparison pattern and remove repeated claims; this would make the sequence easier to follow and cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “predominant,” “recorded,” “in contrast” and “remain at the same level.” These choices show an effort to describe comparisons rather than relying only on basic terms. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “everyday classes” for a typical weekday, “accounted considerally dominant,” and “Japan is accounted to be the lowest.” Spelling errors, including “diffrent” and “tems,” also reduce control. Use straightforward, precise language for chart reporting, and check spelling and collocations. For example, “students’ weekday activities” and “stood at” would express the intended meanings more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including contrasts introduced by “while” and “whereas.” Nevertheless, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation occur across the response. Examples include “Uk and Germany is accounted low,” “Uk and Germany takes a lead,” and the run-together sentence “Germany. In contrast,Sleeping.” The construction “with both each standing at 7%” is also grammatically awkward. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to process. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build comparisons with complete, clearly punctuated clauses; then check each sentence for articles and agreement before finishing.
