Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You identify the main comparisons accurately: studying is highest in Japan and Germany, sleeping is the leading activity in the UK, and Japanese students spend least time relaxing. The figures you report—13, 9 and 8 hours for studying, and 4 versus 7 hours for relaxing—match the chart. The response also covers all three activities and includes a clear overview. To make the account more fully developed, clarify that studying is the highest activity in Germany, but not in Japan alone as a general pattern: Japan’s 13 hours is the chart’s highest figure overall. Also, the overview could compare the countries more precisely, such as noting that Germany’s figures are relatively balanced. The main features are well selected, though some comparisons could be extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs reporting the activity figures. This makes the information easy to follow, and phrases such as “In contrast” and “Further details” signal shifts between points. However, some linking is awkward or mechanical. “Regarding, sleeping” and “By contrates” do not form natural transitions, while “In details” is not an appropriate paragraph opener. The overview also repeats the country-and-activity pattern rather than grouping the main comparisons as efficiently as it could. Use simpler, accurate links such as “For sleeping” and “As for relaxation,” and ensure each paragraph develops one clear comparison. Overall, the organisation is logical, with some unevenness in cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to describe the chart, including “accounts for,” “figures,” and “amount of time,” and the meaning remains clear. There is also some variation in how you refer to the data, rather than relying only on “hours.” However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural phrases limit the range and control: “wich,” “stuyding,” “acitivity,” and “contrates” are misspelled, while “spend the least amount of time for relaxing” is an awkward collocation. “In details” is also not a natural expression in this context. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more precise and allow your existing range to sound more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including comparisons and clauses introduced by “while,” and the reader can generally understand the reported figures. Some sentences are also controlled, such as “Japan has the lowest figure, at just 4 hours.” However, there are several grammatical problems. The overview contains a duplicated subject in “students from Japan and Germany students,” and “Another noticeable feature, students…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. “Regarding, sleeping Germany records…” also needs clearer punctuation and structure. In addition, “In comparison” is followed by a sentence that would be clearer with a more explicit subject. Practise building complete sentences around each comparison and check subject placement and punctuation; this would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at varied structures.
