Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You state a clear position—“I strongly agree”—and give relevant reasons, including lung cancer, addiction, and effects on people’s ability to complete daily tasks. You also propose government restrictions, so the response addresses both the health concern and the idea of making smoking illegal. However, the argument is only partly developed: the claim that cigarettes are made from “one kids of tree’s leaves” is unclear and does not explain the health risk, while the link between smoking and low energy or unfinished work needs clearer support. The discussion also shifts from banning smoking to restricting sales without explaining how a ban would work. Develop fewer points with accurate explanations and specific examples to make your position more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on harms, a paragraph on a proposed solution, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “For this reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, and ideas within paragraphs do not always progress smoothly. For example, the discussion moves from lung cancer to concentration and then addiction without clearly showing how these points relate. The solution paragraph also shifts from penalties for sellers to role models promoting addictive items, which makes its central argument difficult to follow. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s focus, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “addictive,” “lung cancer,” “penalty,” and “authorities,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Phrases such as “one kids of tree’s leaves,” “get penalty for selar,” and “band this kids of products” are unclear or inaccurate. Repetition of “smoking,” “people,” and “products” also limits precision. Build a more reliable set of expressions for health effects and regulation, and check spelling and word forms. More accurate choices such as “tobacco leaves,” “fine sellers,” and “ban these products” would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both short statements and longer sentences using connectors such as “Hence” and “For this reason,” but the range of sentence structures remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “Smoking is addictive habit,” “smoking give negative impact,” and “The government should not allowing,” which show problems with articles, subject–verb agreement, and verb forms. There are also errors in sentence construction, as in “Hence, individual do not smoke at that specific time, they feel low energy,” where two ideas are joined without a clear grammatical link. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then combine clauses with “because,” “so,” or “which means that.” Check articles, plural forms, and agreement when proofreading.
