Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You take a clear position in “yes, I am agree” and give relevant reasons: smoking harms the smoker, pollutes the air, and may affect non-smokers. The examples of cancer and damage to organs also relate to the topic. However, the response does not explain whether smoking should be made illegal, which is the central issue, or develop the reasons with explanation or examples. The final phrase, “in my own knowledge or experience,” is unfinished, and there is no conclusion. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words. To strengthen your answer, explain the benefits and possible drawbacks of prohibition, support your position with specific examples, and complete each part of the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The ideas are mostly connected to one broad topic, and you use simple links such as “because” and “also” to show relationships. This gives the reader a basic sense of your reasoning. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, with no introduction, developed body paragraphs, or conclusion. Several points—health effects, air pollution, and harm to non-smokers—are listed rather than arranged into a clear progression, and the ending is incomplete. Organise the essay into paragraphs, with each body paragraph focused on one reason. Use linking expressions to show how each reason supports your view on making smoking illegal, rather than simply adding another point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “smoking,” “diseases,” “cancer,” and “non-smokers,” so the general subject is understandable. There are also attempts to express cause and harm, such as “damage human body slowly.” However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or spellings make the meaning unclear, including “addictated,” “polloute,” “launch damage,” and “main smoker.” Some phrases, such as “make the socity dirty,” are too vague for an academic argument. Build a more precise range for discussing health and policy, and check spelling and collocations. For example, distinguish between “lung damage” and “liver damage,” and use terms such as “second-hand smoke” when discussing harm to others.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, particularly with “if” and “because,” and the reader can generally identify your main point. However, sentence structures are mostly simple, and errors in basic forms frequently affect accuracy. For example, “I am agree” needs a different verb pattern, while “a serious illnesses” has an article and number mismatch. Subject–verb agreement is also problematic in “smoker ar increase,” and the conditional sentence “if a man… he is definitely suffer” does not use a consistent verb form. Capitalisation and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed conditionals and cause-and-effect clauses.
