Student answer (Band 5.5)

Drugs like, smoking should be banned as they cause a life threathing condition's. I believe smoking cause a many respiratory disease.

In recent years, the issue of health problem causing by smoking has become a subject of considerable debate.while some people believe that should not be banned as its now become there addiction or its part of their daily routine, I strongly disagree with this viewpoint because of several compelling reasons.

To begin with, one of the primary reasons why i agree with this statement is that people are nowadays becoming more unhealthy and get the addiction of smoking. This is mainly because of promoting more advertsiments on social media which influence the people. For instance many young users have an account on social media by seening such kind of ads they get easily attracted. As a result, heavy smokers get's serious breathing problem's

Furthermore, another significant reason is that due to lots of stress and worload people generally got addiction. A good example of this would be people who are heavy smoker's are diagnosed with serious heart disease and lung problem's.

admittedly, some people argue that complete ban of smoking. This argument may be valid to some extent because individuals should have the freedom to make their own lifestyle choice's.

However, I believe that life is a precious thing invest on good things .

extracting the gist from the above conclusion , I firmly believe that smoking should be banned because it's has a detrimental effects on young people

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position against smoking and give relevant reasons, including health risks, social-media advertising and the effect of stress. You also acknowledge the opposing view that people should be free to choose their lifestyle. However, the response only partially develops the task: the reasons are asserted rather than explained in detail, and the examples remain general. For instance, the point about young people seeing advertisements could be linked more clearly to how this leads to smoking and why prohibition would help. The conclusion repeats your position but does not draw together the argument. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation and a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “However” help show the intended structure. Nevertheless, progression is uneven: the opening mentions respiratory disease, while later paragraphs shift between advertising, stress and health effects without consistently connecting these points. The concession beginning “admittedly” is brief and is not fully integrated with the response to it. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and the final sentence beginning “extracting the gist” does not form a clear conclusion. Organise each paragraph around one central claim, then use clear references and transitions to show how its explanation supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “respiratory disease,” “addiction,” “social media” and “detrimental effects,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “life threathing condition's,” “workload,” “heavy smoker's” and “got addiction.” Spelling errors, including “advertsiments” and “seening,” also reduce precision. Some phrases, such as “invest on good things,” are difficult to interpret naturally. Build a more accurate set of collocations for health and policy arguments, and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession with “while” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, the range is limited, and complex constructions are often faulty. Examples include “I believe smoking cause a many respiratory disease,” “health problem causing by smoking,” and “people generally got addiction.” These show recurring problems with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the run-on opening after “debate.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Proofread each sentence for agreement, tense, articles and punctuation so that errors do not interrupt the reader.
