Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide a detailed list of health consequences, the explanation of why it should be illegal is somewhat superficial. The counter-argument regarding tobacco farmers is introduced but remains underdeveloped, as you do not explain how this conflict could be resolved or why the health benefits outweigh the economic concerns. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly links back to the question of legality.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and missing transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Apart from this', the connections between sentences are sometimes mechanical or unclear. For instance, the transition to the counter-argument ('Paradoxically, in another view') is abrupt and the subsequent sentence structure makes the point difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the readability of your work.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, particularly regarding medical terminology (e.g., 'respiratory', 'cardiovascular', 'toxins'). However, there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'life threatining', 'tixins', and 'fetal' (likely intended as 'fatal'). These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensure you are spelling key terms correctly. Avoid informal phrasing like 'show off' and strive for a more academic tone throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('addiction play', 'tobacco consumption also high'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, which makes the meaning unclear in several places. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for punctuation and capitalization errors would also help, as the current lack of spacing after punctuation marks affects the overall presentation.
